The sequel to the really gnarly Bubblegum Crisis... With only half the gnarliness.
It's been quite some time since Bubblegum Crisis ended, and the Knight Sabers are all but nonexistant. Priss is looking into a record contract, Linna has a new job, and Sylia is nowhere to be found. Then a bank robbery sparks a reunion of the four, as they go up against their greatest challenge yet.
Anybody whose seen Crisis already knows the characters. Priss, Nene, Sylia, Linna, Leon, Daley and a few others.. I'm not going to go into them, because if you haven't seen Crisis, don't bother with Crash yet.
Unfortunately, I cannot write this view without comparing it to the original Crisis. The animation isn't nearly as excellent in many places, although it's still pretty good. It looks like they tried doing some new things that just didn't pan out.
This is where the anime loses it's points. A lot of the voice actors/actresses changed from Crisis. Most notably, Priss's voice is played by another woman. I can't complain about the voices because they're not horrible, but they're not nearly as well done as Crisis.
From what I understand, Bubblegum Crisis was meant to be over 12 episodes, but ended at 8 due to disagreements with the producing companies. Crash was supposedly done in an attempt to bring closure to Crisis. I'm thankful for that. I loved Crisis, and 8 episodes was simply not enough.
Some of the technology is neat too. Everybody gets new hardsuits, and Crash has no less asskicking than Crisis did.
Like I said, I'm glad they brought closure to Crisis. However, I wish they'd been able to finish Crisis the way they meant to. Crashing is lacking in some places, and it's noticable.
